Updates

Image for Desktop app, member locations, email templates, and more

It’s been another big month at Circle with updates that make your community easier to access, more connected, and more personalized.

Let’s start with the biggest one: Circle now has a desktop app 🎉

Introducing the Circle Desktop App (Beta)

We hear this from community builders all the time:

“My members are so busy! I wish there was a way for us to stay top of mind.”

Now, you can meet your members where they are with the Circle Desktop App.

Our new desktop app pulls your community out of the browser, and makes it a part of your members’ daily routine. Like Slack, Notion, or Spotify, Circle can now live on their desktop, just a click away.

1. Your community on their desktop

Your members can keep Circle open and active all day — no tabs to find, no browser to reopen.

2. Never miss a notification

With native desktop notifications, members know the moment something happens — a new post, a DM, a tag in a thread that matters.

When they receive real-time updates where they’re already spending time, they stay more connected. They show up more. They engage when it counts and keep conversations flowing.

For community admins, it’s your signal to pay attention without needing to refresh, reload, or check your inbox.

3. One app for all your communities

If you manage multiple communities — or move between them like your members do — you’ll love how seamless this now feels.

Available in public beta today

The desktop app is in beta for communities on all plans starting today.

For the beta, we’re starting with a standard Circle-branded desktop app. Once it’s battle-tested, we plan to offer a fully custom-branded version to Circle Plus customers later this year. We hope it will be worth the wait!

Note to Windows users (May 20 / 2:00PM EST):

  • ✅ We have now resolved the issue with Windows downloads. You can download the Circle Desktop App beta for Windows by clicking the Download beta button above.

Customers on our Basic, Professional, Business, and Enterprise plans are opted into the beta by default. If you’d like to opt out, you can disable your community from being accessible via the desktop app from Settings General.

During the beta phase, your members will only find out about the app if you let them know. If you’re ready to test the app with your members, we suggest making a post in your community with a link to our Download page: https://circle.so/desktop-app.

Once the beta phase is complete, we’ll show a download link to members in the sidebar for communities with the app enabled, next to the download links for our iOS and Android apps. Circle will never market the app directly to your members.

Geo-coded member locations

Circle profiles now support accurate, geolocation data — moving from freeform text to a structured system that is more accurate and works across the entire platform.

Now, when someone enters their location, they choose a real place from a smart dropdown powered by autocomplete. Behind the scenes, Circle geocodes the input — so “LA” becomes “Los Angeles, CA,” — giving you clean, reliable data for targeting, filtering, and automation.

We’ve gone back and retroactively added location data on existing profiles (where possible), so you’ll see improved targeting results right away.

This new location data is already available in Segments and Audience Filters, and it’s coming soon to Workflows. That means you can:

  • Send personalized messages by city or region

  • Automate actions based on where someone is

  • Create access automations for location-specific spaces

These location updates quietly unlock better onboarding, smarter segmentation, local connections, and more.

“Near me” filter

With smarter location data now powering profiles, we’re introducing a new way for members to find each other:

The “Near me” filter in the Member Directory makes it easy to discover and connect with people nearby based on their saved location.

  • See members in the same city

  • Plan in-person meetups or local conversations

  • Build a stronger sense of connection and belonging

Saved email templates

You can now save and reuse your favorite layouts in Email Hub, making it easier to stay on-brand and move faster with every send.

Whether it's a newsletter, event reminder, promotional email, or weekly update—templates help your team stay consistent and save time.

What’s new:

  • Save any email as a reusable template

  • Launch new campaigns from your saved templates library

  • Ensure consistency across your team’s messages

This update cuts down on repetitive work and helps your team ship polished broadcasts—faster and more reliably.

Other updates

Continuous scrolling for post comments: Comments now load automatically as you scroll, so you can read through the full conversation without interruptions. Plus, the comment box stays fixed in view, making it easy to jump in and share your thoughts at any time.

Push notifications dashboard (Circle Plus): Circle Plus communities can now create, schedule, and send push notifications through their branded apps. Target specific audiences with filters, and track performance with detailed send and click analytics.

Email validation at sign-up: New members' email addresses are automatically checked to ensure they're valid, helping you avoid undeliverable or fake emails and keeping your community member list clean and reliable.

Create new access groups from dropdown: You can now create a new access group directly from the dropdown menu when inviting new members, making it faster and more intuitive to manage access as you go.

Affiliate payout threshold lowered to $5: Affiliates will now have their commissions marked as Due once they reach $5, simplifying payout tracking for admins. Note: Payments still need to be marked as Paid manually, as payouts happen outside of Circle.

Improvements to AI agents:

  • AI agents are now supported on iOS: Members can now create new chats with agents, interact with them, and be notified about agent welcome messages. The app also supports displaying “agent paused” notifications to admins, sent when a member requests a human help. Admins can then navigate to respective chats by tapping those notifications. Coming soon:

    • Support for pausing/resuming agents for admins

    • Showing agent info at the top of agent chats

  • AI Agent import progress indicator: We’ve added a progress bar to show the status of uploaded content into your Knowledge Engine, making it easier to track large imports and know when your AI Agent is equipped with the desired information.

  • Search AI Agent inbox by member name: You can now quickly find AI Agent conversations in the inbox by searching for a member’s name, making it easier to track and manage chats.

  • Long conversation notification for AI Agents: Users now see a warning when a conversation is getting too long, prompting them to start a new one. This helps avoid issues with chat limits and creates a smoother experience.

  • Preview, download, and edit AI Agent content: You can now manage all of your Knowledge Engine content in one place. Easily preview text, download files, and edit custom snippets for better control over the information you use to train your agents.

iOS improvements

We also shipped a few improvements to Circle’s iOS app

  • AI agents are now supported on iOS!

Image for Introducing the Custom App Builder, AI summaries, and 10+ other updates

Back in August 2023, we launched Circle Plus: our highest tier plan for customers looking for their own branded mobile app.

Until today, a branded app meant a tailored version of Circle’s mobile app — scoped to your community, branded as your own, and maintained by us across both Apple and Google app stores.

We’ve now shipped hundreds of branded apps, and the results speak for themselves. Branded app customers see 7x higher engagement when their community lives in their own app.

But we kept hearing: “It still feels like Circle’s app — just with our logo on it.”

That changes today.

Introducing the Custom App Builder

Starting today, we’re rolling out the Custom App Builder for customers on the Circle Plus Custom plan.

With the Custom App Builder, you can now take full control of your branded mobile app.

You can design your own mobile experience, build custom screens, and craft onboarding flows.

1. Build your own app screens

You now have control over your app’s layout and the ability to customize your app screens using our powerful new visual app builder.

  • Use our visual builder to create new custom app screens — no dev team needed.

  • Make real-time updates to your app without waiting on App Store approvals.

  • Preview your changes instantly before going live.

  • Use pre-built blocks and templates, or start from scratch.

Custom app screens

Think of app screens like pages on a website, but built natively for your mobile app.

Whether it’s your own home screen, a product directory, a video directory, or a sales page, you can create something uniquely yours.

You can add text, images, video, call-to-action buttons, embed tools, link to different parts of your app, or even out to the web.

Use pre-built app screen templates

You’re not starting from a blank slate.

We’ve included proven templates for directories, sales pages, custom HTML, and more. You can use them out of the box, remix them, or build from scratch. It’s fast, flexible, and designed to reflect your brand.

New templates will be added every few weeks (if you have an idea for one, you can let us know!)

Add embeds from 1,900+ third-party providers

You can create app screens with your own embeds from 1,900+ third-party providers. From Typeform and Calendly to YouTube and Shopify — you can bring your favorite experiences into your app.

A few examples:

  • Let members schedule coaching time with you via Calendly

  • Collect an onboarding survey with Typeform

  • Showcase your YouTube channel

  • Sell your products with a Shopify embed

Use custom HTML to create fully unique experiences

For example:

  • A sales page with embedded video, testimonials, and CTA buttons to upsell your members

  • A resource library organized by topic or membership tier

  • A video library of embeds with your own custom layout

  • A launch page for a new product or time-sensitive campaign

These screens live natively inside your app and can link to any space, post, course, or even external URLs — giving you the power to design a truly custom mobile experience.

2. Customize your app onboarding

First impressions matter.

With the new onboarding customizer, you can welcome members into your app with a guided carousel that shows up the moment they open it.

It’s your chance to highlight what matters most — whether it’s your community spaces, key features, or a special offer.

Each step is yours to define, and you can update it anytime as your app evolves.

The Custom App Builder is already delivering results — fast. Within just 24 hours, customers are creating powerful, personalized app experiences that transform how their members engage. One early beta customer said it best:

Mila, who runs Glucose Guide, used the Custom App Builder to bring her nutrition tracker into her Circle branded app — and saw results in under a day.

“Before, our members had to juggle two separate apps — one for glucose tracking, another for community.

With the Custom App Builder, we were able to combine both our Circle app and our Nutrition Assistant into one seamless experience – and we did it in less than an hour!

Our members are thrilled to have everything in one place, and it’s been a huge win for their experience. Now they get our best tools, and their community in one place.”
— Mila, Glucose Guide

Available on Plus Custom

Early access for the Custom App Builder is available today for customers on our Plus Custom plan.

  • If you’re on our Plus Custom plan, you can request early access today by navigating to Branded App → Custom App Builder → Request access.

  • If you’re on our Plus Lite plan, you’ll need to upgrade your plan to Plus Custom by navigating to Branded App → Custom App Builder → Learn more.

Not a Circle Plus customer yet?

If you’re on our Professional, Business, or Enterprise plans, our team would be happy to help you determine if Plus Custom is right for you. Click here to request a custom demo.

We’ve already seen some incredible communities using the Custom App Builder —and the early results speak for themselves. Early beta communities are:

  • Welcoming members with custom welcome flows and orientation screens

  • Building hubs, directories, or course libraries — and helping members find what matters

  • Embedding interactive content like quizzes, videos, or forms directly into the app

  • Launching upsells and sales pages with support for in-app payments

  • Sending targeted push notifications that point members to any custom screen

It’s been inspiring to watch what’s possible when customers can take full creative control.

If you have a vision for the mobile experience you want to provide your members, our goal is to make it possible.

Learn more about the Custom App Builder →

And that’s not all:

We’re also excited to announce the rollout of a new push notifications builder for branded apps, available to all Plus Custom and Plus Lite customers in the next few weeks.

Push notifications builder for branded apps

Push notifications are one of the most powerful ways to re-engage your members.

These notifications appear right on their lock screen, carry your brand, and bring members directly into your app with a single tap.

That said, we’ve heard from customers that while they love the impact of push notifications via workflows, they need more control — and better visibility into what’s working.

Starting soon, you’ll be able to:

  • Draft, send, and schedule push notifications

  • Preview your notifications before you send them

  • Track performance with delivery and open rates

Rollout starts today, and will be available to all Circle Plus customers in the next few weeks from the Branded app → Push notifications tab.

While you can still use bulk action workflows to send push notifications, we recommend using the new push notifications builder for the ability to preview your notifications, and get performance metrics on how each one performs.

AI summaries

Keeping up with your community shouldn’t feel like a full-time job.

As your membership grows and more conversations happen every day, staying up to speed becomes harder.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce AI Summaries for customers on our Enterprise and Plus plans, designed to help you and your members keep up with your community with ease.

Post summaries

We’re adding two types of post summaries:

  • Post content: A on-demand post content summary members can generate by clicking the Summarize button

  • Conversation: An always-on conversation summary which automatically summarizes the comments section by pulling in key ideas and themes from replies

Together, they make it easy to quickly understand what a post is about and whether you need to dive deeper.

Feed & space summaries

You and your members can also click Summarize in the feed or a space to automatically generate a recap of all new posts from the past 7 days, 30 days, or to get a summary of all unread posts.

This is available for non-chat spaces starting today, with support for chat spaces coming in the next few weeks.

Available today on Enterprise and Plus

Given the immense cost of serving AI features to millions of Circle members, AI summaries are rolling out to customers on Enterprise and Plus only with no limits.

If you're not on one of these plans, now is the perfect time to upgrade to supercharge your community with AI Summaries, AI Agents, and our upcoming AI features.

As a reminder, the price of our Enterprise plan will increase from $360/month (paid annually) to $419/month for new upgrades after May 2.

To lock in the $360/month price and save up to $1,200 per year, upgrade to Enterprise before May 2 by going to Plans > Change plan.

By doing so, you’ll also ensure access to all of our upcoming AI features as they roll out.

AI Agents Updates

In case you missed our March update, we launched AI Agents for communities — AI-powered agents that can guide, support, and coach your members.

This month, we’ve made a few updates to the feature:

Suggested questions

You can now add up to 5 suggested questions per AI Agent — like “Where do I start?”, “How do I join events?”, or “What’s new this month?” — giving your members a clear starting point and encouraging the right kind of engagement.

These suggested prompts appear:

  • Before the first message in a new conversation

  • In the agent’s profile sidebar during chats

You can customize them in the Customize tab of the AI Agent builder.

Pause AI notifications for admins (coming soon)

If an AI Agent’s responses get paused and the conversation is handed off to a human, selected admins can now receive an in-app notification — making sure someone from your team sees it and can follow up quickly.

Marketing Email Hub Updates

Marketing Hub is now called Email Hub

We’ve renamed Marketing Hub to Email Hub to better reflect its purpose. Don’t worry — you’ll still have access to all the powerful marketing tools you rely on, including email broadcasts, marketing automations, and your audience CRM.

And now, it’s getting even better with big improvements to contact importing, sending from your own branded domain, our new done-for-you migration service, and more coming soon. Here’s a few updates we’ve shipped this month:

Email Hub contact importer

Bringing your contacts into Circle is now faster, smarter, and more flexible. You can upload CSV or Excel files, map fields to your CRM, create and apply tags, and fix import issues instantly — all from one clean and intuitive flow. Whether you’re migrating from another platform or adding new contacts, this makes onboarding your audience easy.

Learn more about contact import →

Branded domain sending

You can now send marketing emails from your own branded domain—like hello@community.yoursite.com—giving you full brand control and a more consistent member experience. This is a great fit for communities sending emails regularly and at higher volumes. If you're just getting started or sending less frequently, you’ll still benefit from Circle’s high-reputation shared domain.

Available now on the Business plan and above.

Other updates

Chat message search: We’ve added the ability to search through chat messages using your community’s global search bar. Whether you’re digging through a busy chat space or trying to find that one DM from last week, you can now search through messages in DMs, group chats, and chat spaces. Additionally, you can filter by keyword, author, chat space, or date using the global search feature.

Spotlight chat messages in live streams: Moderators and hosts can now spotlight chat messages in real time within Live Streams or Rooms. Whether you’re highlighting a great comment, responding to a member shoutout, or surfacing a helpful idea, it’s a great way to bring key moments to the forefront and keep the energy flowing. To spotlight a message, simply select it from the message options menu and choose to either spotlight it immediately or add it to the queue alongside any selected questions from Live Q&A.

Improved segment management: We’ve made it way simpler to create, view, and manage Segments. Now you can save Segments directly from Broadcasts and Workflows without switching tabs, preview filters with a quick hover, and instantly see where each Segment is being used. You can even tidy up by deleting any that are no longer in use. To manage your saved segments, navigate to Audience > Segments

New APIs for Admin API v2: To help you better manage administrative tasks, we’ve added four new APIs related to Access Groups:

  • Add member to an Access Group

  • Remove member from an Access Group

  • Get Access Group members: Returns the details of all members in an Access Group.

  • Get specific member of an Access Group: Return the details of specific members in an Access Group.

Note: Admin API v2 is available on the Business Plan and above.

Terms and conditions checkbox on paywalls required on all purchases: To remain compliant with legislation, we’ve now made the Terms and conditions checkbox a requirement for all purchases from your existing members and new members.

Image for Introducing AI Agents for communities

Today we’re sharing two important updates to our Enterprise plan:

  1. We’re unveiling AI Agents on our Enterprise and Plus plans — our brand new offering to help you scale your community.

  2. We’re announcing an exclusive offer for customers on lower tiers to lock in the lowest price ever on our Enterprise plan. More on that below.

Let’s dive in…

Introducing AI Agents for communities

The world is undergoing a major transformation with AI, and we couldn’t be more excited to be on the forefront of this transformation for communities.

Today, we're launching AI Agents for communities — AI-powered agents that can guide, support, and coach your members.

Every day, we talk to community builders who tell us about their core challenges:

  • How do I grow my community?

  • How do I scale myself?

  • How do I help my members get the answers they need?

  • How do I spend more of my time on authentic connections vs. mundane tasks?

We built AI Agents to address these very core challenges, and to help you scale your presence.

AI agents are the ultimate extension of you.

Overview

AI agents come with three distinct parts:

  1. Chat agents: Build personalized AI agents to guide, support, and coach your members.

  2. Knowledge engine: Train your agents with just the right data. Nothing more, nothing less.

  3. AI Inbox: Stay on top of every member-to-AI conversation with a single shared inbox.

To activate AI Agents, simply navigate to the AI agents icon on the left navigation menu in your admin area, and click Set up agents.

1. Chat agents

The most proactive community managers don’t just run the community at large — they guide, support, and coach members individually as needed.

But as experienced managers know, keeping up with every member gets challenging as you grow your community. Inbox overwhelm is inevitable, and gets even harder as you scale.

With personalized chat agents in your community, you can give your members the experience they deserve as you scale without the “overwhelm” part.

Chat agents are more than just chat bots – they’re a true extension of your team that interacts with your members.

  • Build your personalized chat agents to guide, support, and coach your members, ensuring they feel cared for and engaged.

  • Scale your presence by letting your chat agents answer member questions, provide coaching on your behalf, and remain available 24/7.

  • Automate member support so you can focus on building deeper connections, while your chat agents handle repetitive tasks and common questions.

And because your agents are fully customizable, you can set the tone, behavior, and responses to match your unique voice.

Your agents are ready to help your members 24/7

Once enabled, chat agents are seamlessly integrated into the Circle experience, making it easy for members to get answers, guidance, and support when they need it most.

Members can interact with chat agents from a few places:

Community search
When members search for something, they can start a conversation with chat agents to go beyond just the initial search. They can ask follow-up questions and make sure they get the answers they need.

Direct messages
With the “Agents” tab in direct messages, members can start a one-on-one conversation with a chat agent at any time to get personalized support.

Onboarding
With a pinned direct message, you can welcome your new members with a DM from your chat agent, and point them to the right resources upfront. If they have a question, they can ask your chat agent right there instead of reaching out to you.

2. Knowledge engine

Every great community has a wealth of knowledge – discussions, courses, resources, and FAQs – but getting members to the right information at the right time isn’t always easy.

That’s where the knowledge engine comes in.

The knowledge engine is what powers your chat agents. Think of it as the “brain” of your agent.

  • Train your agents with just the right data — nothing more, nothing less. Chat agents can be trained on your spaces, posts, comments, courses, PDFs, and even external resources. You’re always in full control, and you can choose exactly which data your chat agents have access to.

  • Pre-trained on Circle platform support. If your members have questions about the platform experience in Circle, you can train your agent on our Member Knowledge Base by simply turning on the “Platform support” toggle. This way, they can get real-time platform support without reaching out to you.

  • Your agents get smarter every day. As your community grows, new discussions and resources are automatically incorporated into the knowledge engine, so answers stay relevant over time.

3. AI Inbox

As powerful as AI Agents are, there are moments when you or your team might want to step into a conversation.

That’s why we’ve designed the AI Inbox to give you and your community admins complete visibility and control over every conversation.

  • Full visibility. See every interaction your agents have with your members within one centralized inbox. This makes it easy to know your agents are providing the right guidance.

  • Take control if you need to. If an AI response isn’t quite right, or a member needs a more personal touch, you or your team can step in and pause the AI instantly.

  • Shared inbox for admins. The inbox is accessible to all community admins, simplifying oversight and ensuring everyone stays on the same page.

This way, you can strike the perfect balance with AI agents: automated replies as the first step, and human responses when necessary.

AI Agents are about removing the repetitive, time-consuming work, so you can spend more time on the work that you enjoy and the work that matters.

Get started with AI agents today

When you activate AI Agents, you’ll start to feel the results right away.

  • Members will receive faster responses. No waiting on community admins for front-line support, no lost questions. Just instant, high-quality answers.

  • Members will be more engaged. With AI proactively guiding members to answers and conversations in your community, they’ll be a step closer to actualizing value.

  • You’ll be able to scale yourself. Whether you’re growing your membership, launching new courses, or expanding into new offerings, AI Agents help you support your community at scale – while removing repetitive tasks from your plate.

Ready to activate AI Agents in your community?
Navigate to AI Agents in the top left of your community, click Set up agents, and go.

AI Agents are included on Circle’s Enterprise plan and Circle Plus.

Exclusive offer for Basic, Professional and Business plan customers

If you’re currently on Circle’s Basic, Professional, or Business plans, there has never been a better time to upgrade to the Enterprise plan.

Over the last year, we’ve been working hard to make Circle’s Enterprise plan more powerful, more flexible, and better equipped to help you grow without limits, and we’re excited to announce the best deal you’ll ever see for our Enterprise plan.

Here’s what’s changing:

Starting April 21, 2025, the new Enterprise pricing will be $499/month ($419/month when paid annually) for new upgrades.

  • If you’re currently a customer on Circle’s Enterprise plan, your price will not be changing. You’ll keep your current, lower pricing.

  • If you’re currently on Circle’s Basic, Professional, or Business plan, you can lock in the lower price if you upgrade before April 21, 2025. That means you’ll get Enterprise for $399 per month ($360 per month on an annual plan) — a saving of up to $1,200 per year.

From AI Agents and advanced analytics, to unlimited workflows and scaling up a dedicated customer success team, we’ve added tremendous value to our Enterprise plan over the years.

The updated price reflects the value we’ve added over the years, and allows us to continue adding value to the Enterprise plan. It’s the first time we’ve increased its price in over three years.

With that said, we know it’s important to plan for upcoming price adjustments, which is why we’re giving customers on Basic, Professional and Business plans the final chance to lock-in today’s lower pricing before it takes effect for new upgrades on April 21st.

Ready to upgrade to Enterprise?

Navigate to Plans > Change plan in your community admin, and select Upgrade on Enterprise.

When you upgrade to the Enterprise plan, you’ll instantly get:

  • AI Agents: Get instant access to AI-powered support, onboarding, and engagement tools in 2025.

  • Much higher limits: Scale freely with more spaces, admins, moderators and live stream usage.

Image for Buy Now Pay Later, workflow improvements, and 15+ other updates

This month, we took a breather after a stretch of major back-to-back releases, focusing on quality-of-life improvements. Next month, we’ll follow up with a slew of big announcements — stay tuned!

In the meantime, let’s check out everything we launched recently 👇

Increase conversions with Buy Now, Pay Later

You can now drive higher conversion rates by giving your members Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options including Affirm, Klarna, and Afterpay with Circle paywalls.

Why enable BNPL?

Boost new member sign-ups: You can reduce sticker shock by increasing affordability.

Improve cashflow: You’ll get paid upfront while your members pay over time. No more defaulting payments!

Flexible payment options: By allowing members to split their payments into smaller installments, you can offer them more flexibility and lower financial barriers.

Enhance trust and credibility: BNPL providers like Affirm, Klarna, and Afterpay are widely recognized and trusted, giving your members confidence in their payment options.

Seamless checkout experience: When toggled on in your community, these new payment options will be added to your checkout experience for a frictionless payment process.

How to enable BNPL for your community

Switching on BNPL is easy! Simply navigate to Paywalls → Settings and toggle on the payment providers you’d like to offer at checkout.

Important note: Once enabled, payment providers will review your business to ensure compliance with their policies. If your business does not meet a provider’s requirements, their payment option will be automatically removed from your checkout.

Workflow improvements

Is empty / Is not empty filters

We’ve introduced powerful new filter options to help you quickly identify members with uncompleted profile fields—giving you better insight and control over your community data.

You can apply the Is empty / Is not empty filters to the following fields:

  • Name

  • Bio, location, headline

  • Any text-based profile fields

  • Any array-based profile fields (coming in ~2 weeks)

Use these filters under Manage audience and Broadcast audience to find members with missing information.

You can also use these filters to trigger workflows — making it easier than ever to keep member profiles complete and up to date.

Archive workflows

You now have the ability to archive workflows, giving you more flexibility in managing your automations.

When you archive a workflow, the automation is fully deactivated, preventing any future actions (e.g., sending emails or adding a member to a space etc.) to members. This differs from simply deactivating a workflow, which only stops new members from entering while allowing existing members to flow through the automation.

To archive a workflow, go to Workflows and click on the ellipsis menu of an active workflow and select Archive. You’ll be able to find a list of all archived workflows on the Archived tab.

Customize headline field

You can now tailor the built-in headline field to better fit your community’s needs with new customization options:

  • Edit the label, placeholder, and description to match the information you’d like to collect.

  • Set field requirements as optional or required.

  • Choose whether and where the headline appears, including Create profile, Edit profile, and View profile.

Plus, there’s a new Visible in profile highlights setting. When enabled, the headline will only show in profile highlights and will be hidden from posts, comments, likes, leaderboards, search, and other areas.

To customize the headline field, navigate to Audience > Profile fields and click on Manage to open the profile fields modal.

New DM settings

We’ve introduced new controls to help you manage direct messaging (DMs) in your community. Here’s what’s new:

  • Enable messaging: Allow members to send one-on-one messages and create group DMs. (Note: This does not affect chat spaces or live stream chats.)

  • Enable member-to-member messaging: When turned on, members can DM each other and chat in chat rooms. When turned off, they can only message admins, and member chat rooms will be hidden. (Admins will always be able to message members.)

  • Enable group messaging: Lets members create and participate in group chat rooms.

  • Enable voice messaging: Allow members to send and receive voice messages in DMs and chat spaces.

To manage direct messaging in your community go to Settings > Messaging

Additionally, we;ve updated how the Prevent members from messaging me toggle functions for admins. When enabled, you can still message members, but they won’t be able to initiate conversations with you or reply. To adjust this, click the bell icon in the header, go to Settings > Account Settings and scroll down to the toggle.

New live layout options

Hosts now have three layout options to enhance the viewing experience in live rooms and live streams:

  • Speaker - top: Moves the speaker’s frame to the top of the screen, offering more horizontal space when in spotlight mode. Resembles Zoom!

  • Speaker - side: Moves the speaker frame to the side of the screen.

  • Gallery: Displays all speakers and participants in a tiled format for a more interactive feel.

Customize labels in courses

Admins now have the flexibility to customize their Lesson and Section headings in courses, making them better fit for your content.

You can choose from the below labels to match your course structure:

  • Sections can be labeled as Chapter, Level, Module, Part, Path, Phase, Section Stage, Track, Unit or Week—or keep the default label Section

  • Lessons can be labeled as Activity, Assignment, Challenge, Class, Day, Exercise, Lecture, Lesson, Session, Topic, Tutorial, or Workshop—or keep the default label Lesson

Easily update these labels at a global level from the Courses Directory, or customize them for individual courses by clicking on the ellipsis dropdown menu and selecting Edit Labels

Permanently delete or ban member accounts

We’re making it easier to manage member access with two new options: Permanently delete or Ban member accounts.

On a member’s profile page, you’ll now see three options:

  • Deactivate member accounts: Removes member access. The member won’t be able to log in unless re-invited by an admin. Their profile will remain inactive, but their posts, comments, likes, and chat messages will be visible in the community.

  • (New) Permanently delete member account: Permanently removes the member’s account, including all their posts, comments, likes, and chat messages. They will not be able to rejoin the community unless invited by an admin.

  • (New) Ban member account: Functions similarly to Permanently delete member account but also records and blocks the member’s IP address to prevent future access to the community.

Please note: If you ban a member, the IP addresses they’ve used in the last 30 days will be banned. However, they could still rejoin your community using a different IP address. To unban a member, you’ll  need to contact Circle support.

These new options give you more control over your community experience, ensuring a safer and more engaging experience for everyone.

Other updates

Streamlined paywall checkout for SSO communities: Now when a non-signed-in member reaches checkout on a single sign-on (SSO) enabled community, they’ll be redirected to authenticate seamlessly from your paywall checkout page. This improvement is available to all communities using Circle paywalls with SSO.

New member notifications: You can now choose to receive a notification whenever a new member completes their profile and joins your community. To enable or disable these notifications, click the bell icon, then the settings icon, and scroll down to New members join to adjust your preferences.

Faster processing times for bulk member invitations using CSVs: We’ve reduced the processing time for large CSV imports.

New image options in Marketing Hub email editor: Images in the email editor now retain their original size upon upload, giving you greater control over their appearance. Plus, you can choose from four alignment options—left, center, right, or full width and also attach links to images.

New Zapier actions for access groups: You can now manage member access with these new Zapier actions:

  • Add member to access group: Adds member to selected access group.
